Unlike the past Grammys, the 63rd edition of the star-studded event that took place in Los Angeles yesterday was filled with a different vibe altogether. In our eyes, we saw it as liberating because it’s been a long time since we saw our favourite artistes come together to celebrate music. The annual event also gave us new hope that amidst the Covid-19 pandemic, we can go on with life, looking at how our favourite celebs came together in honour of this event and donned face masks to make things work by following the SOPs. At the same time, seeing every one of them walk on the red carpet with their beautiful outfits made our hearts flutter. Here are our top 10 picks from this year’s Grammys:
Taylor Swift
Filled with colourful embroidered pressed flowers, Taylor’s eye-catching dress from Oscar de la Renta gave us hope that the Spring blooms will be here soon! The sheer long-sleeved mini dress that was paired with ankle bow-tied pumps from Christian Louboutin brought out TayTay’s dreamy personality to a T and was the perfect look to complement her Album of the Year win for Folklore.
Megan Thee Stallion
The combination of details on Megan’s bright orange dress from Dolce & Gabbana: the enormous bow and her thigh-high slit was an ideal fit that reflected the positive and confident person that she is!
Billie Eilish
Known for her mysterious charm, it didn’t come as a surprise to us when Billie showed up in this pink, black and grey look from Gucci. Of course, she flaunted her artistic-cool side by pairing her outfit with a bucket hat that contrasted her neon green hair very well – and white-pink sneakers to complete the look.
Harry Styles
Call it the magic of colours and textures – it might look bizarre on some people, but Harry Styles is not some people, and that’s exactly why this combo worked! Harry’s Gucci look that comprised a plaid yellow blazer, plaid vest, brown pants and purple boa truly reflected his extrovert yet charming personality that we truly adore.
Cynthia Erivo
Despite not making it to the list of Grammy winners, Cynthia’s outfit was definitely one of those that made heads turn for its stunning intricacy. Fun fact: she was dressed in a custom-made Louis Vuitton silk gown that was made with 60,000 glass beads, sequins and crystals – and took more than 140 hours to put together!
Dua Lipa
As someone who is filled with extravagant ideas, Dua’s Versace pink crystal gown was one of our utmost favourites. Perfectly cinched at the waist, it revealed her bustier top and made her look effortlessly stylish.
Keltie Knight
The feather accents on Indonesian high-fashion designer Sebastian Gunawan’s silver gown that Keltie wore was what got our attention on her outfit. Paired with Roger Vivier jewels, the stunning piece did indeed bring out the fearless side of the Canadian TV presenter.
Jhené Aiko
Floor-sweeping gowns are almost a must-have at every award show and this time, Jhené’s Moonsori tiered ruffled gown was the one-of-a-kind conversation starter we were looking for! We loved the sweet shade of pink that it came in and how it brought out the compassionate side of Jhené.
Mickey Guyton
The one thing that drew our attention to this Valentino dress that Mickey wore was none other than the fine details on its outer layer. We’d really like to get our hands on the tulle piece that’s filled with butterflies and flowers!
DaBaby
We must say that DaBaby’s mustard turtleneck top and floral suit from Dolce & Gabbana, which he paired with a green-red hat, made quite an interesting combination. His overall look brought out his outgoing and fun personality, which could do us all some good in the current pandemic that we’re a part of.
