It’s been almost a year since I bought new makeup, and I must say, it was extremely exciting to see and try some of the latest products in the market today. To me, one of the most important things that help me look polished is having a good lippie as it sets my tone for the day. Here’s why Gucci Beauty’s Rouge De Beauté Brilliant collection of lipsticks made my eyes sparkle when I first laid my eyes on it:
Less is more
Chapped lips are a major issue for me and no matter how much I tried to combat this problem using a lip balm, it has never worked. Nothing irritates me more than having my lips peel especially when I’m in the middle of an important meeting, and this is why the Rouge De Beauté Brilliant lipstick won my heart as it serves as an all-in-one lip colour. Formulated with nourishing and antioxidant ingredients, the creamy texture of the lippie makes my lips look fuller and plump even sans a lip balm. Thomas de Kluyver, Gucci’s Global Makeup Artist, recommends applying it on bare lips as the natural warmth is enough for the colour to melt onto your lips beautifully. One layer is all you need for a subtle glow or up to three if you’re after high-impact shine, colour and hydration.
Hydrate & feel great
Nothing beats the feeling of walking out your front door in full confidence when you’re wearing the right lippie. One of the things that attracted me to the Rouge De Beauté Brilliant lipstick is its promise of 24-hour hydration, thanks to the combination of Black Rose Oil, Peony Oil, Jojoba Seed Oil and Karité Butter. In addition to that, Hyaluronic Acid will give a subtle plump and smoothing effect while a blend of Flower Oils and Fruit Butters in the lipstick makes the colour shine and long-lasting. For an even, glowing finish, I like to press my lips together once!
Out of the box
I finally gave in to this range of lipsticks after seeing all 15 attractive colours and quickly found a few favourites in 714 Jody Wild Mauve (a dark raspberry for my weekend dinner dates), 402 Vantine Fuchsia (a striking pink for a casual girls’ day out), 216 My Cousin Rachel (a subtle mauve rosewood for days when I’ll be in the office) and 25 Goldie Red (aka the Gucci red for days when I’m meeting clients). The casing of the lipstick (a slim and elegant gold bullet with a cover wrapped in black and gold) is unique and easy for me to spot in my handbag. Fun fact: the print on the cover that’s inspired by vintage brooches was created by Creative Director, Alessandro Michele, who has a huge passion for collectibles!
