The day has finally come when one of YouTube’s most popular skinfluencer, Hyram Yarbro launches his very own skincare range: Selfless by Hyram! If you’re a fan of his like I am, you’d have probably screamed in excitement upon hearing the announcement a few weeks ago, so I don’t blame you if you’re adding them to your cart today.

If you have no clue of who I’m talking about though, let me quickly fill you in. Hyram is a skincare specialist and YouTuber who, since 2017, has published tons of skincare content from ingredient education to debunking luxury and overhyped brands while introducing routines and products that help target any skin issues we face. Despite not being a licensed esthetic practitioner or dermatologist, his videos got me obsessed with skincare and even helped me manage my acne and hyperpigmentation. Fast forward to today, he’s launching his much-anticipated brand that all his fans have been asking for.

Although we’ve seen many celebrities and influencers launching their own brands lately, I’m also aware of the possibilities of labels not living up to their names. However, coming from Hyram himself who prioritises effective ingredients and the environment’s well-being at the same time, I’m really looking forward to the quite literal ‘Hyram-approved’ Selfless by Hyram collection – and here’s why:

1. Skincare with a good cause

While it’s true that being sustainable and mindful means making do with what we already have, Selfless by Hyram is on a mission to spark social change around the world and leave a positive impact through its products. Partnering with non-profit organisations like Rainforest Trust and Thirst Project, the brand aims to protect tropical rainforests from deforestation and provide people with a year’s worth of clean drinking per water per person through each purchase – how thoughtful! Not only that, every ingredient is consciously sourced and harvested to make sure the waste and harm done to them are kept minimal to none. Even the packaging is fully recyclable as it’s made from carbon-neutral sugarcane bioplastic. Love!

2. Minimal yet effective ingredients

Staying true to Hyram’s beliefs and with the help of The Inkey List’s expertise, the range features gentle yet powerful and innovative ingredients such as sea kelp, rainbow algae, mandelic acid and niacinamide – my personal favourite! What’s great about them is that the actives are kept at a minimum alongside the natural ingredients in each product so that they don’t damage the skin’s health and barrier, and are encapsulated for slower release. The products are also formulated without fragrance or fragrant essential oils, alcohol, palm oil and mica – much to my delight!

3. Straightforward formulas for specific concerns

Since I have acne, dark spots and combination skin, it’s really important that my skincare purchases are concern-specific. That’s why I love that the Selfless by Hyram collection is super targeted without the fluff. From reducing and controlling oil and breakouts to repairing, exfoliating and hydrating the skin, products like the Salicylic Acid & Sea Kelp Pore Clearing and Oil Control Serum, Retinol & Rainbow Algae Repair Serum and Niacinamide & Maracujá Daily Barrier Support Moisturizer are at the top of my ‘To-Try’ list.
