From the outside, people would assume that I’m someone who isn’t picky about food, but what many don’t realise is that I’ll usually reject their kind offers when it comes to burgers. Why burgers specifically? Because, simply put, most of the burgers that I’ve tried in the past have either been too dry or overtly drenched with sauces, to the point that I could never really get the actual taste of the burger itself! #FWP I know – until I discovered this new place called Cargo recently, that is.

Located in Tropicana Gardens Mall in Petaling Jaya, Cargo specialises in pork burgers (an instant #win in my books cos pork is life!) with five options for you to choose from: Cargo, Hawaiian, Jumbo Cheese, Mushroom and Double Egg. Each burger is made with Japanese charcoal buns and comes with nachos on the side! Unlike regular cafes that serve a selection of canned or carbonated drinks like Coke and Sprite, Cargo will have you spoilt for choice with 30 types of craft beers and 20 types of sparkling juices to pick from. As a first timer, I decided to go for the Cargo Burger and Behemoth Freedom Beer. Here are the three reasons why I haven’t stopped thinking about this burger since I had it a week ago:

Not your regular burger patty

Unlike regular patties that are either made from pulled or minced meat, Cargo’s are made from pork loin with fats. Not many would have paid attention to this, but it clearly caught mine as it made a huge difference in terms of the taste, texture and how I felt after eating the burger. Unlike past occasions, I didn’t feel as if my stomach was going to explode after eating the burger, but rather, I was full and satisfied at the end of the meal. The burger patty was juicy, tender and not the slightest bit dry even when I decided to eat it on its own!

No sauces involved

While I know that this is very subjective, I personally don’t like my burger to be drenched in different types of sauces. As the saying goes, less is more, and I prefer a minimal amount of sauce so that I can savour the taste of the other ingredients used in the burger. The plus point about the Cargo burger I had was that it had no sauce at all, and yet it was anything but dry! I quickly discovered that the secret lies in its patty. Since it’s made from tender meat and fats that’s mildly charred to perfection, the natural juice that oozes from it is more than enough to make the burger taste good without any additional sauce! How cool is that?!

It’s presented in a very tasteful manner

When it comes to food, presentation means the world to me and I must say, I was quite impressed when I saw that my burger came in a clean and minimal takeaway box that didn’t leave any residue or ingredients behind when I took it out. Made of minimal ingredients, the Cargo burger contains caramelised onions and tomatoes that added to the juiciness of the burger, as well as lettuce, pickles and a pork patty layered between Japanese charcoal buns – voilà!

The amount of lettuce and tomatoes used was sufficient, which made the entire burger look enticing and not to mention, divine at first bite. The combination of sweet, mildly sour and salty combined with the fluffy buns was an experience that made me dream of this burger until today! To complement it, the Behemoth Freedom Beer that I had easily completed my meal. The citrusy beer was a good mix of sweet and bitter that didn’t create a gassy feel in my tummy, which I was glad about. Here’s a fun fact for you: the mouth-watering burger is priced at only RM15.90! Personally, I’d go for it anytime as it is extremely affordable yet finger-licking good. Fun fact #2: I’m already planning my next visit, whereby I’d love to try the Jumbo Cheese Burger and another variety of craft beer!

Cargo is located at Westwalk, Concourse Floor, Tropicana Gardens Mall, No. 2A, Persiaran Surian, Tropicana Indah, 47810Petaling Jaya, Selangor. Burgers start from RM15.90 while beverages start fromRM11. To get a taste of it, drop by Cargo or call 0163216882 to pre-order your takeaway picks.
