While browsing the internet this week, we came across a video from our favourite Malaysian tech YouTuber and content creator, Adam Lobo about the much-talked-about Samsung S Pen from the Galaxy S23 Ultra that was circulating on social media. What caught our eye was the fact that it was a fun challenge video that’s different from his usual style of doing comprehensive gadget reviews which we’ve been looking forward to watching over the past few years.

In this particular video, Adam and another local content creator and streamer, Wong Shu Faye embark on a challenge to try out five unique features of the S Pen and discover who can better master the skills of using it. More than wanting to find out who would eventually come out tops among the two (you’ve got to watch it to find out!), we were impressed by some of the features of the S Pen that were highlighted in the video. Here are the three winning ones in our books:

1. Accuracy Test Using Air Action

This feature allows you to navigate through different functions just by waving your S Pen. While we see how Adam and Shu Faye zoom in and out of the phone's camera using this function in the video, we’re intrigued by how useful this feature can be in our day-to-day lives. As the Air Actions are navigated using the air function, we’ll no longer need to manually tap on our phone screen on the busiest days to change tabs or look through notes while we’re in the midst of answering a call. Imagine how convenient that would be! This function reduces the chances of us exiting a call by accident or stop doing whatever we are busy working on just to be able to perform another action.

2. Speed Writing Using Handwriting To Text

Since the evolution of mobile phones and touch screen devices, it’s almost impossible to find anyone who still prefers writing over typing in this day and age. But as someone who has huge fingers, it can get quite annoying when I’m trying to type something out quickly (especially URLs) – just to get it wrong or auto-corrected (which still ends up being wrong!). Writing using the S Pen is now made a lot easier as it allows you to send messages to your device quickly and accurately without having to type everything out. While it might not be everyone’s cup of tea, we’re certain that many people who still treasure the use of slang and personalised messages will appreciate this feature. Not to mention, drawing is also made breezy now with the S Pen!

3. Remove An Object Using Object Eraser

In this challenge, we see how Adam and Shu Faye are able to use the S Pen to select a particular object in an image (the leopard gecko, in this case) and remove it in just a few seconds. One of the biggest hassles of using your fingers to perform this task is that it was almost impossible to accurately trace the object in one try in the past. However, thanks to the S Pen, all you’ll need to do now is tap on the object you want to remove and the edges are captured instantly. With this feature, you won’t need to bug your designer friend to help you crop out specific elements from your images but be able to perform the task on your own in a matter of seconds! Need we say more?
