1. France eMotion Augmented Reality Photography Exhibition

When: 1st to 15th March 2022, 11am–7pm daily
Where: The White Box, MAP @ Publika, G2-01, 1 Jalan Dutamas 1, Solaris Dutamas, 50480 Kuala Lumpur

This March, to kick off the Francophonie month that celebrates all things French, the Embassy of France in Malaysia and Alliance Française Malaisie (Kuala Lumpur & Penang) have come together to present the ‘France eMotion’ photography exhibition at The White Box, MAP@Publika. This unique exhibition will take you on an eye-opening journey around France to discover (or rediscover) the country’s rich heritage through 35 original photographs in four main chapters that come alive through a virtual character, a storyline and Augmented Reality (AR). For this project, four international photographers – Ishola Akpo from Benin, Edu Monteiro from Brazil, Lourdes Segade from Spain and David Schalliol from the US – set out to explore different parts of France and capture images from a fresh perspective, which were then used as a base for Julie Stephen Chheng and Thomas Pons to create animations in AR. To get the most out of this experience, all you’ll need to do is download the free France eMotion app to your phone and point your lens at the photos, et voilà!

2. Janet Lee’s ‘Blossoming Colours’ Exhibition

Where: Janet Lee Gallery, 20-1-4 Jalan 2/101C, Cheras Business Centre, 56100 Kuala Lumpur

In conjunction with International Women’s Day that falls on 8th March, differently-abled local artist, Janet Lee is showcasing her latest works through her second solo exhibition themed ‘Blossoming Colours’ that is open for viewing at her Cheras gallery throughout this month. As someone who seeks freedom of expression through her canvases, Janet has gone through many experimentations before finally settling on a core subject matter – colours. An artist with learning disabilities, you can be sure that everything Janet creates is true to her vision and free from biased perspectives. Through this exhibition, it is undeniable that Janet creates art that is meant to be experienced, not understood. And while flowers are a symbol of femininity, their soft imagery in her pieces this round not only reflects the blooming season but also her strength and resilience in her journey as an artist.
