During the ever-extended MCO period, our daily wardrobe mostly consists of PJs, sweatshirts, oversized tees, boyfriend shirts, lounge shorts, joggers, PJs – oh, did we mention that already? While lockdown days are turning into weeks, and weeks into months, we’re becoming pros at working from home in the clothes we woke up in (guilty!). However, if you’ve grown tired of that uniform, we’ve put together some feel-good looks that are guaranteed to turn your days around!
1. #IWokeUpLikeThis
Waking up is easy when you’ve slept in the comfiest pyjamas the night before. Plus, with hotter nights coming up, opting for cotton pieces will keep you cool and relaxed while you’re busy getting your beauty sleep. This one’s our pick as the contrasting black accents add dimension and the trousers even give a slimming effect!
2. Snooze the alarm!
We won’t lie – some days we sleep in till it’s close to noon and we’re totally okay with that. On such days, oversized tees paired with comfy trousers make the best outfits for that lazy, carefree look.
Gold touches
Finish off with gold accents to elevate your outfit from basic to chic even if you’re just heading to the fridge!
3. All decked up with nowhere to go
Stuck at home with clothes that you miss wearing out? Use this chance to play dress-up by experimenting with different styles and techniques you never would have otherwise – like layering your PJs with your button-down work shirts for instance. Take it up a notch with a pair of fun socks and statement jewellery to set the stay-at-home mood. We’re sure that this activity will brighten up your spirit and leave you with a new look to wear when the MCO is over!
Versatile pieces
Aside from being a classic and timeless piece, an oversized shirt makes for a great outerwear option when you need to run quick errands. Simply throw it over your pyjama top, add on a pair of earrings and you’re all set!
4. Rest and ruminate
These days, the perfect ‘me-time’ sesh for us is prioritising relaxed silhouettes and doing the things that we love. This includes a comfy sweater, slouchy jeans (to feel like we’re putting our going-out clothes to good use) and journaling daily to get us through this new normal.
5. Wing it and win!
Need to hop on a Zoom meeting stat but still in your PJs? Fret not! Just layer your favourite blazer over your pyjama shirt and finish off with some jewellery that’ll instantly have you looking polished.
Go from sleepy to snazzy
Look out for aesthetically-pleasing pyjamas with a fun or girly print like this as it can double up as clothes you can actually wear out and no one would notice!
The WFH companion
If you’re working from home and don’t have a designated spot, a pochette like this Alia Bastamam piece will come in handy to hold all the essentials you need!
6. Head in the clouds
Tonal looks are high on our list of favourite things to wear. But if you’re opting for more colour, break it up with a dash of bold hues like this standout red ‘self-love’ graphic tee that’s made from organic cotton between the blue-toned pieces. Not only does it add dimension to your look, a bright slogan piece like this works like a charm to get you feeling 100% again!
7. Sun-day best
The borders may be closed but that doesn’t mean we can’t visualise our very own beach getaway. If we ever go to one soon, this breezy cotton caftan is definitely coming with us! Perfect to keep cool yet chic and relaxed, it becomes totally Insta-worthy when paired with a straw hat, lustrous jewellery and strappy midi heels.
Hassle-free footwear
The new normal has got us falling for shoes that are: A) low-heeled or flat, and B) comfortable slip-ons, so these numbers in pastel pink and burnt orange shades take the cake! Plus, the bow and ruffle details effortlessly refine any look we’ve got on.
