One of the things I’ve been dying to get my hands on for a while now is a versatile makeup palette – one that I can use daily for work and play, and also on my travels when things are back to “normal” again.

The vibrant shades in most palettes are the one thing that always make my eyes light up, but realising the current situation that we’re all in, I was also looking for something more toned down, which would be suitable to wear indoors (for my Zoom meetings and virtual parties) and outdoors. So imagine my excitement when I saw Ameera Khan all dolled up with Darling (her fluffy cat) in her hand when she introduced the new Darling Palette during a virtual launch last week. Her overall look made me take notice instantly and gave me the motivation to get up, dress up and cheer up despite the current situation we’re in. Here are three things that caught my attention about this new drop.

Less is more

Simplicity is the way to go and as someone who’s always running late, I really appreciate all-in-one makeup palettes that have basic yet unique colours for me to play with. This multipurpose palette has got 10 colours in a combination of eyeshadows, blusher, highlighter and glitter that you can mix and match to your liking. Made from silica, argan oil, grape seed oil and vitamin E, it’s free from all forms of alcohol, paraben and mineral oils. With a beautiful range of matte and shimmery shades laid out in one palette, no longer would I need to open five different palettes and crack my head on the colour combos that would suit my skin tone.

Equality rocks!

Have you ever realised how at times you’ll need to apply multiple layers of the same shade so that it becomes visible on your skin? With The Darling Palette, this won’t be the case at all. As a dark-skinned person, I’m overjoyed that the colours in this palette are all highly pigmented – which means to say that only a small amount is needed for you to create a certain look. If you have a lighter skin tone, simply dust your brush just before applying the colours on your skin so that it doesn’t end up looking too dark or too strong.

Love what you have

The first thing that got me attracted to this palette were the names of the shades as they were all named after significant events or memories in Ameera’s life. For instance, ‘Romeo’ is a light brown shade that’s named after her cat who passed away suddenly and ‘Baby’ is a sweet shade of pink that takes after her pet name at home. As lovely as the names of the shades are, they also serve as a reminder for everyone to appreciate and love what we have in our life – ourselves included.
