Did you know that Tony the Tiger, aka the mascot of Kellogg’s Frosted Flakes (or Kellogg’s Frosties, as some of you may know it as) turns 70 this year? Or that he was first introduced to the world alongside three other characters – namely Elmo the Elephant, Katy the Kangaroo and Newt the Gnu as part of a contest for Kellogg’s new cereal packaging back in the day? (The others were sadly removed from the line-up when Tony proved to be the most popular of the lot, in case you’re wondering!) Created by Eugene Kokley and Martin Provensen from the creative department of global advertising agency, Leo Burnett back in 1952, Tony has existed for a good seven decades and is still the happy, friendly and colourful American breakfast icon that we’ve always known him to be!

Fast forward to today, to celebrate the Year of the Tiger, Italian luxury house, Moschino has released a capsule collection by Creative Director, Jeremy Scott that features – yes, you guessed it – Tony the Tiger! Tony has certainly come a long way from his humble beginnings doing what he does best (eating and posing next to his favourite cereal, that is!) and in 2022, we’ll see his star shine further as he lights up the OOTDs of fashionistas around the world with the drop of this 16-item collection, both in stores and online.

What you can expect from this collection: graphic silkscreen print and embroidered renditions of Tony the Tiger donning the classic Moschino gold chain and peace sign pendant on some of Moschino's all-time favourite ready-to-wear pieces such as fitted and oversized tees, a hoodie-or-sweater-and-sweatpants set and a sweater-sweatshorts set (all sold separately but can be worn together as co-ords), hooded dresses, knit dresses and even denim jackets, shorts and pants.

However, if you prefer something more subtle but comes with a tiger-rific factor, go for the Printed Calfskin Clutch that resembles the iconic Kellogg’s ceral box. Made in collaboration with Kellogg’s, the electric blue arm candy can be spotted from miles away and is definitely a great conversation starter when you’re collecting ang pau from one house to another. In fact, the clutch comes with a lined interior with patch pocket and a magnetic closure, so let’s just say that it’s perfect to stash all the red packets you’re going to be getting this year!
