It almost feels like we’re finally out of the ‘cage’ after having gone through multiple lockdowns in the past year and a half, and there’s no better way to celebrate our freedom than to wear makeup that speaks of our personality. To spice things up this season, Malaysian fashion designer and influencer, Kittie Yiyi has launched her all-new Kittie Yiyi Beauty brand and limited-edition ‘Cross The Line’ liquid eyeliner collection as its first drop that we simply can’t resist. Here’s everything you need to know about this new set of ‘colour pencils’ that you need to get your hands on!

1. Inspired by Childhood Colour Pencils

#Throwback to the days when we used to be on the lookout for the latest colour pencils in town to add to our collection. Similarly, Kittie Yiyi Beauty’s ‘Cross The Line’ series of liquid eyeliners was inspired by children’s stationery and designed specifically for you to have a controlled grip when using it. More than that, the eyeliners are made using an easy-glide formula that’ll give you a non-cakey and non-flaky matte finish, and it’s also waterproof and smudge-proof as it dries within three to five seconds after each application! Of course, top priority for safety and health was at the top of Kittie’s mind when producing this range which is vegan and paraben-, gluten- and cruelty-free.

2. Be Bold, Be Yourself!

Replicating the same type of fun times you had when you were young, this series of eyeliners is made up of six colours, namely Big Sis Energy, Dream Girl, Eyes On You, Happiest Day, Perfectly Imperfect and What’s New?. To make the most out of them, all you need to do is shake each one a little before gliding it over or under your eyes, or on your skin. A tip from Kittie herself: “To make my liners last all day, I usually apply them on my bare skin without any foundation or concealer.” However, if you’ve got oily lids and are used to topping your eyeliner off with a bit of powder eyeshadow especially if you want to make sure that your ‘wings’ don’t ‘disappear’ after a few hours, you may stick to this routine! As for the six colour options for you to choose from, what they mean and a few tips on how you can use them to achieve different looks, read on:

Big Sis Energy (yellow)

If you’re strict on the outside and kind and loving on the inside, then this colour is meant for you! As yellow can drown on fair to tanned skin quite easily, draw it along the crease of your eye to create the ‘floating crease’ look, then apply black liner along the base to add depth and you’re done!

Dream Girl (pink)

Being Kittie’s signature colour, this colour encourages you to love, accept and believe in yourself as you are unique and special. If you’re used to quirky eye designs such as the fish tail, then try having it drawn in this colour for a change!

Eyes On You (red)

This colour symbolises confidence and being in control. Tip: Having your upper lid drawn in red is great especially on days when you want to stand out from the crowd, but if you prefer it to be more toned down, just apply it on your lower lash line instead and see the difference it can make.

Happiest Day (blue)

Reflecting the blue skies and the colour of water that welcomes new things, this one reminds us to live our life to the fullest every single day! Kittie says, “This colour can appear like black especially when you’re not under the sun, so wearing it to work will not look ‘too much’. But if you’re feeling a little conscious and just starting to attempt something that’s less basic, you can try this blue above a black liner to create that coveted double-eyeliner look.”

Perfectly Imperfect (white)

In case you haven’t noticed, every artwork begins with the colour white and it goes without saying that to many of us, this colour is an essential. A tip from Kittie: “The best way to make this colour pop is by applying it on your lower lash lines. Once you’re done, add a little yellow at the inner ‘V’ of your eye and complete the look by filling the upper lid and outer bottom ‘V’ of your eye in black.”

What’s New? (black)

While this one’s a staple that many of us can’t live without, in Kittie’s eyes, it’s seen as a ‘boring’ and ‘empty’ colour – and who can blame her? For a change, why not play mix and match with the other colours so as to not go ‘too crazy’ all at once? A tip from Kittie: “You don’t have to wear black all the time. So why not switch things up a little and add other colours to your eye makeup exactly the way you’d mix and match your clothes?”

3. Value for money

As Kittie herself loves quirky illustrations, the box that the six eyeliners come in has been specially designed to resemble the quirky, fun and bold person that she is. To celebrate the launch of Kittie Yiyi Beauty, the team has come up with a bundle promotion that you can purchase on Shopee, which consists of all six colours of the eyeliner, a limited-edition Rainbow Blue or Checkmate Green co-ord set (which you can pick from, and both are specially designed for this launch) and a sticker pack packaged in an attractive box-cum-organiser (which you can also buy on its own). Needless to say, you can purchase it as a gift for your loved one or yourself to celebrate you surviving all the MCOs!

Shop Kittie Yiyi Beauty’s limited-edition ‘Cross The Line’ liquid eyeliner (RM68 each), Rainbow Blue Set (RM288) and ‘Cross The Line’ Drawer Box Organiser (RM68) here, and ‘Cross The Line’ Bundle (RM488) exclusively on Shopee.
