SK-II’s Pitera™ Essence has been around for over 40 years and we’ve all heard the wonders it can do to our skin. Containing over 90% Pitera™, it is loved by millions of women around the world for its transformative power to crystal-clear skin. But it wasn’t until the FMCO started that I decided to give it a shot as I could finally make time to use it consistently. The steps on how to use the facial treatment essence were clear and simple: all I had to do was pour two to three drops of it on my palms and gently dab it into my skin twice a day – morning and night. Above all, what got me interested to try this ‘miracle water’ was the scientific research that was involved in developing the Pitera™.

Where it all began

Research on the Pitera™ started when scientists realised that despite the wrinkles that aged sake brewers in Japan had on their faces, their hands remained soft. After an extensive research was done on 350 yeast strains, they then spent another five years isolating single yeast strains that was rich in amino acid (to preserve skin’s moisture), minerals (to improve skin texture), organic acids (to remove and prevent build-ups of dead skin cells) and vitamins (to keep the skin fresh), which resulted in the birth of the well-known Pitera™ Essence that we have today.

Three weeks was all it took

What got me hooked to the Pitera™ Essence at the start was how light the solution was and how easily it absorbed into my skin. The cooling sensation made me feel very refreshed in the morning and that gave me the extra boost to kickstart my day on a positive note! In the evening, using it made me feel instantly relaxed after a long day of being in front of the laptop.

Having suffered from dry skin for the longest time, things started to get worse when I started to WFH. My daily skincare routine went out the window because I didn’t see the need to use it diligently as I wasn’t going out or meeting anyone. Well, that turned out to be a big no-no! My skin started to peel, which made things even more uncomfortable for me. So, I went back to using the Pitera™ Essence for 10 days without fail and boy, did my skin turn soft and hydrated! It was almost considered as an effortless routine that only took up a few seconds each time I use it. Today, I’m in my third week of using the product and my uneven skin tone no longer exists. Safe to say, I can’t wait to see more wonders that the Pitera™ will be doing to my skin in the coming weeks!

Why I’m obsessed with the Pitera™ Essence Special Edition

As a long-time fan of the Olympics, I was delighted to see SK-II’s limited-edition Pitera™ Essence bottles to mark the historical event. Unlike the previous games, I consider this year’s Olympics to be extra special as the organisers and athletes braved the risks of the Covid-19 pandemic just to make it a success. As SK-II is a Worldwide Partner of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and Official Skincare Brand of the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020, with the Pitera™ Essence being the Official Essence of this year’s Olympic Games, the bottles come with the word ‘Tokyo’ emblazoned on them and five vibrant cap colours (black, blue, green, red and yellow) for you to pick from!

While the colours of the caps represent the rings of the Olympics logo, this initiative symbolises hope, solidarity and support for the game and for all the athletes who’ve worked hard to make this event a success. To all our athletes, I wish you all the best in the coming weeks and yes, these bottles will always remind me of your courage, determination and all the hard work you’ve put in just to make this year’s Tokyo Olympics a success!
