Scha Alyahya poses with the new Bonia x Scha Collection, photographed by Chee Wei.

I’ve always been the type to use just two handbags for work and play, and rotate between two to three pairs of shoes for every outfit I put on. That should be enough to tell you that my collection of accessories, apart from the few standout pieces I own, mainly consists of timeless classics that I can wear for any occasion. Even so, they’re anything but drab (or at least I think so) as they always come with a small twist so that they’re able to elevate even the simplest looks.

Nonetheless, I’m always on the lookout for the next best thing to add to my collection, and to my surprise, I found it – or rather, a bunch of ’em – during an intimate preview of the Bonia x Scha Collection. Since then, I’ve been dreaming about the pieces and anticipating the launch which happens to be tomorrow!

Made to empower the Bonia woman with everyday essentials, the special collection curated by local actress and model, Scha Alyahya, dove deep into the archives of the brand and its Italian heritage while adding essences of Scha’s personality and style into the mix. Featuring bags, footwear and scarves (a first for the brand!), each piece is laced with Italian art and design elements like Tuscan pillars and Giambologna’s intricate sculptures that are evident in the bags’ unique structure and scarves’ prints. Not only that, the collaboration even revived the classic ‘Camilla’ handbag in embossed crocodile leather complete with a charming mini counterpart as well as a limited-edition ‘Crystal Venice Petite’ bag (only 10 are available worldwide!) adorned with green and pink Swarovski crystals inspired by Italian columns – which I’m obsessed with, by the way!

What I love about the line-up is that while they all have a minimalistic silhouette, each of the items possesses a sophisticated and elegant flair on its own without being too flashy. As such, it’s truly a struggle to choose a favourite from this range as they’re all pieces that I would totally wear on the regular such as the curved ‘Adjani’ shoulder bag with a ruffled strap and the modern ‘Scha’ lilac cross-strap heels with a squared toe and fine straps. Pair these two with a basic tee and jeans and I’d get myself a chic weekend-ready look! Check out the full Bonia x Scha Collection below before it launches on 19th April 2021 in boutiques and online:
