1. The underrated venue

Call it the ‘lockdown effect’ but the bright blue landscape accented by fluffy white clouds on a sunny day in Cergy-Pontoise, a new town in the northwestern suburbs of Paris, was just the kind of setting that we needed to see. It gave us an instant escape from being stuck at home for the past few weeks! The show that lasted for a little over seven and a half minutes (a little too short, we reckon!) was staged at Axe Majeur, the monumental masterpiece by the late award-winning Israeli sculptor and peace advocate, Dani Karavan that spans over the three kilometres. Inspired by the Renaissance axis, the construction of the Axe Majeur lasted for almost 30 years as it connects Cergy-Pontoise to the historic Paris axis and the two axes intersect virtually on the Chatou island. We’re putting this place on our must-visit list the next time we’re in Paris as it’s only 45 minutes away!

2. The sustainable features

Breaking out of the norm of regular runways, Louis Vuitton worked hand in hand with ArtStock, a coalition of diverse art representatives that recycles show decors from the past. While the lawn at Axe Majeur was left untouched, the gravel was recycled by the town of Cergy-Pontoise and the mirror panels used during the show were products of reused materials from ArtStock! What equally wowed us were some of the natural landscape designs on the minidresses and bomber jackets that we spotted on the runway, which symbolised the brand’s plight for everyone to do their part to save Mother Earth.

3. The acrylic colour plays

Resembling the recovery mood that many people around the world are going through right now, we loved the colour combos of the outfits that were showcased during the show. The white, black, silver and red bases peppered with a dash of orange, blue and green pairings in the looks nailed it for us as they represented the hope that we’ve got in our hearts despite going through the toughest year in our lives.

4. The artistic sci-fi pieces

As we dive into a world filled with new possibilities, we saw how Nicolas breathed new life into retro pieces through the layering game. Be it adding silver pocket patches to a trench coat and pairing it with vinyl pants or layering a frill-edged bralette on a long-sleeved knitwear, there was a fun burst of creativity which served as inspo for the day when we can all dress up and head out again!

5. The stunning calf-high pointed boots

Cowboy boots are back in style and we couldn’t get our eyes off those shown on the runway. Unlike regular minimalist designs, this time around we saw an interesting combination of graphic elements on the boots that we adored. With comfort in place and the level of attention to detail, we don’t have any qualms about walking around in any of these pairs all day long!

6. The statement chain-strapped bags

Whether you choose to sling one on your shoulder or hold it like a clutch, chain-strapped bags are statement pieces that’ll never go out of style. Level up your colour-blocking game by picking out one or more to complete your OOTDs (when we can step into the social life again, that is!). Better still, with these pieces, you don’t have to worry about accessorising much or at all!

7. The fly-me-away tops

Cape tops made a comeback in the show and were another highlight that we were more than happy to welcome back into our lives. While leather skirts go well with these pieces, we discovered that deconstructed pants can be put to good use as well, giving off a more casual look when paired with a cape-top.
