1. The underrated venue
Call it the ‘lockdown effect’ but the bright blue landscape accented by fluffy white clouds on a sunny day in Cergy-Pontoise, a new town in the northwestern suburbs of Paris, was just the kind of setting that we needed to see. It gave us an instant escape from being stuck at home for the past few weeks! The show that lasted for a little over seven and a half minutes (a little too short, we reckon!) was staged at Axe Majeur, the monumental masterpiece by the late award-winning Israeli sculptor and peace advocate, Dani Karavan that spans over the three kilometres. Inspired by the Renaissance axis, the construction of the Axe Majeur lasted for almost 30 years as it connects Cergy-Pontoise to the historic Paris axis and the two axes intersect virtually on the Chatou island. We’re putting this place on our must-visit list the next time we’re in Paris as it’s only 45 minutes away!
