The awards season is in full swing and the latest one is the Billboard Music Awards which saw a spectacular night of musical entertainment. Broadcasted live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles with a limited audience in attendance, the annual ceremony was graced with a star-studded line-up and musical powerhouses that undoubtedly brought the house down! ICYMI, here’s a recap of some of the most memorable moments that happened during the three-hour-long showcase:
THE BEST DRESSED CELEBS
Kehlani Looking Smokin’ Hot In Red
Singer-songwriter Kehlani brought her A-game to the red carpet, dressed in a three-piece ensemble by Tony Ward Couture, complete with dazzling jewellery from Bulgari. The Top R&B Album nominee looked like the diva that she is in a bedazzled bra and hip-hugging mermaid skirt which was topped off with a puff-sleeved cape. LOVE!
Doja Cat's Electrifying And Futuristic Appearance
If anyone could rock black-and-white stripes on the red carpet and still look glamorous, it’d be Doja Cat! The American rapper stood out in an archive Balmain design by Olivier Rousteing which features a matching dramatic-sleeved bandeau top and wide-legged bottoms. Not to mention, the Top R&B Female Artist winner wowed us with sleek braids and graphic eyeliner that’s simply TDF. Styled with statement earrings and a necklace with a turquoise stone, Doja Cat's look was nothing short of captivating!
Gabrielle Union’s Pristine White Number
Dressed in a custom Prada gown, Gabrielle was the definition of understated elegance at the BBMAs. Wearing her hair in a high ponytail with flipped ends and soft glam makeup courtesy of Giorgio Armani, the American actress who attended as a presenter turned up in a slinky floor-grazing number which featured intricately-embellished sequins all over it. Completing her overall look were Bulgari diamonds as well as Prada’s newly-released mini leather tote in blush pink.
The Best Dressed Couple Goes To Priyanka Chopra & Nick Jonas
Dressed in contrasting ensembles, the husband-and-wife duo was easily the best-dressed pair of the night! The power couple had a lovey-dovey date night in head-turning looks that had us swooning. For her look, Priyanka wore a shimmering golden gown and statement-making metallic belt from Dolce & Gabbana. Meanwhile, Nick Jonas was the perfect host who looked dashing as ever in a monochromatic emerald-hued three-piece Fendi fit!

P!nk's Breathtaking Stunt With Daughter, Willow Hart
In honour of receiving the Billboard Icon Award and being the youngest recipient to date, P!nk performed a mash-up of career-defining tracks that ranged from her latest single, All I Know So Far to smash hits like Get The Party Started and So What. The pop-rock singer took her performance up a notch by performing a whimsical aerial ballet alongside her 9-year-old daughter, Willow, to their duet Cover Me In Sunshine. This heartfelt mother-daughter moment left us speechless and certainly tugged at our heartstrings!
Alicia Keys’ 20th Anniversary Stage
Can you believe that it’s been a good two decades since Alicia Keys released her legendary debut album?! In celebration of the songstress’s 20th anniversary, Alicia took to the stage to perform a medley of songs from her award-winning studio album, Songs In A Minor. Seated at the piano, the R&B artist’s powerful, soulful voice filled the stage as she belted out the very music that catapulted her into stardom. The enthralling performance gave us goosebumps and continued to linger in our ears long after the show ended.
BTS’s Highly-Anticipated Debut Performance Of Butter
Mere days after the release of BTS’s latest single, the boy group performed Butter for the first time ever, unveiling smooth choreography moves that got fans singing praises and raving about the showcase. The K-pop sensation that took the world by storm also went on to win in all the four categories that they were nominated in: Top Duo/Group, Top Song Sales Artist, Top Selling Song for their hit single, Dynamite as well as Top Social Artist which they’ve earned for the fifth year in a row! We can hear ARMYs all over the world squealing with joy over the group’s well-deserved wins.

Rare Appearance Of Drake’s Son During His Acceptance Speech
It’s #DrakeDecade! Having built an impressive career in the music biz, the Canadian rapper was honoured as Artist of the Decade at the 2021 BBMAs, making him the third recipient of the award after Mariah Carey and Eminem. Ever since releasing his debut studio album, Drake has dominated the Billboard charts time and again. Audiences were in for a sweet surprise when Drake was joined on stage by his son, Adonis. The adorable 3 year old held on to the trophy as Drake delivered a heartfelt speech and dedicated the awards to his little man.
The Weeknd Took Home The Most Wins Of The Night
Oh, to be Abel Tesfaye and basking in multiple golden trophies! Not only did The Weeknd receive the most nominations (a whopping 16 to be exact!), the singer-songwriter received the most number of awards at the ceremony (10 at that!); the most notable one being Top Artist. Other wins included Top Hot 100 Artist, Top Male Artist, Top Radio Songs Artist, Top R&B Artist and Top R&B Male Artist. In addition, the singer-songwriter’s AfterHours album was named Top R&B Album, whereas the single, Blinding Lights won Top Hot 100 Songs, Top Radio Song and Top R&B Song. While delivering his acceptance speech, the talented musician even hinted at new music, which clearly left us in anticipation!
